Ambuja's cement output jump by 6.9%, sales by 7.7% in Aug

Ambuja Cements today reported a nearly seven per cent growth in cement production at 12.08 lakh tons during last month against 11.30 lakh tonnes in the year-ago period.      

Sales grew by 7.7 per cent at 12.40 lakh tonnes in August 2008, compared to 11.51 lakh tonnes in August 2007, Ambuja Cements Ltd said in a statement.     

During the first eight months of 2008, the company's cement production went up by 5.3 per cent at 118.25 lakh tonnes against 112.25 lakh tonnes in the corresponding period of 2007.     

Sales during January-August 2008 rose by 5.1 per cent at 118.26 lakh tonnes against 112.53 lakh tonnes in the year-ago period, it added.
