BHEL Q4 net up 34%

Bharat Heavy Electricals (Bhel) has reported a 34.3 per cent increase in net profit at Rs 584.6 crore for the fourth quarter ended March, 2005, as against Rs 435.2 crore during the fourth quarter of 2003-04.
 
Total income rose 23.3 per cent to Rs 4,629.4 crore, while gross profit was up 27.6 per cent to Rs 1,000 crore. Earnings per share was at Rs 41.01 at the end of the financial year, compared with Rs 26.89 per share at the end of 2003-04.
 
For the year-ended March 2005, Bhel's net profit rose 52.5 per cent to Rs 1,003.8 crore, compared with Rs 658.1 crore during 2003-04. For the first time, the company's total income crossed the Rs 10,000 crore mark. Its income was up 21 per cent to Rs 10,087.8 (Rs 8,339.7 crore).
 
Bhel's expenses shot up 19.5 per cent to Rs 9,199 crore (Rs 7,696 crore). The company had an outstanding order book position of about Rs 32,000 crore at the end of March 2005 as against Rs 23,650 crore at the end of 2003-04.
