CCL records highest-ever coal production

The Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) recorded the highest-ever coal production digging 47.08 MT coalduring 2009/10 fiscal, registering a growth of 9 per cent.

"The record production reflects an increase of 3.84 MT production compared to the previous year, the highest ever in the history of CCL," Chairman-cum-Managing Director R K Saha said in a release at a news conference here.

Bouyed by the achievement, the CCL set the production target at 50 MT for the fiscal 2010-11.

The CCL's contribution to the exchequer by way of royalty and taxes has also registered an increase, contributing Rs 1,466 crore in comparison to the previous fiscal's Rs 1,288 crore, the release said.

 

The gross turnover attained a new high of Rs 6,790 crore in comparison to the previous year's Rs 5,978 crore and the estimated profit before tax (PBT) almost doubled to Rs 1,500 crore from last fiscal's 763.80 crore, he said.

The net worth of the public sector stood at Rs 2,644 crore, a rise from last fiscal's Rs 1,288 crore.
