Coke posts 1% rise in Q2 net
CORPORATE SCORECARD

Riding on the growth in emerging markets like China, India, Turkey and Brazil, Coca-Cola Co, world's largest soft-drink maker posted a one per cent profit increase for the second-quarter.
Coca-Cola reported a net income of $1.85 billion for the quarter ending June 29, compared with $1.84 billion a year ago. The net operating revenue rose to $7.73 billion from $6.48 billion, it said in a statement. Total unit case volume increased 6 per cent in the second-quarter. However, unit case volume in the company's key North America unit declined 2 per cent in the quarter. "In India, unit case volume increased 12 per cent in the quarter, cycling a decline of 12 per cent in the last year quarter," the company said in its statement.
Coca-Cola said its international operations had 9 per cent unit case volume growth in the quarter, with solid sales in several countries including China, Turkey, India, Brazil and South Africa.
Eurasia group's unit case volume increased 15% in the quarter, cycling 11 % growth in prior year quarter. Double digit unit case volume growth across most of the group, including India, Turkey, Eastern Europe and Southern Eurasia, drove the results, it said.
"We delivered another strong quarter," chief executive Neville Isdell said in a statement. "While very pleased with this performance, we must underscore that we continue to manage for the long-term. An overall favourable global environment has assisted our concerted and successful actions in the marketplace."
