Colgate-Palmolive Q2 net rises by 16%

Increased domestic sales helped dental care major Colgate-Palmolive (India) increase its net profit by 16 per cent to Rs 63.5 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2008, compared with the Rs 54.74 crore in the corresponding period last year.
Net sales stood at Rs 412.5 crore, an increase of 13.3 per cent over Rs 363.87 crore posted in the same quarter of the previous year.
The company achieved 11.1 per cent volume growth in product sales in the period, mainly led by 11.2 per cent growth in the toothpaste category.
The toothbrush segment also grew by 41.2 per cent, increasing its market share by 2.7 per cent to 37.7 per cent during January – August 2008.
