Daikin to set up AC unit in Rajasthan

Anil Sharma New Delhi/ Jaipur

With an investment of Rs 160 crore in its first phase, the plant will have a production capacity of 20,000 units of variable refrigeration volume (VRV) and 1,800 chillers annually, a statement issued by the Rajasthan government said.

The company plans to manufacture multi-split type commercial-use air conditioning equipment and chillers (large-capacity air conditioning heat source equipment).

The Rajasthan State Industrial Development & Investment Corporation Ltd (RIICO) has allotted 40 acres of land for the project. The plant is likely to be completed and commence production by September 2009.

The company's foundation stone laying ceremony will be held on Wednesday. Daikin claims to be the world's No-2 air conditioning systems brand with manufacturing presence in Japan, Thailand, Europe and China.

Daikin is the only air conditioning company in the world, which manufactures all the parts, from refrigerants to compressors, on its own. The plant will provide direct employment to about 300 persons.

The New Industrial Complex Majrakath, Neemrana is the country's first country-specific investment promotion zone to promote Japanese investment. Total area of the complex is 1,167 acres. Land, so far, has been allotted to 14 Japanese companies, most of it being multinationals.

Eight more interested companies need 101 acres land and are initiating steps to get allotments for their proposed ventures.
