Deccan profit up 52%

| Deccan Chronicle Holdings, owner of Andhra Pradesh's largest-circulated English daily Deccan Chronicle, posted a 52.23 per cent increase in net profit at Rs 48.44 crore in the third quarter ended December 2006, compared with Rs 31.82 crore in the same period last year. |
| The company's net sales rose 44.02 per cent to Rs 146.39 crore during the reporting quarter against Rs 101.64 crore in the comparable quarter a year ago, the company informed the stock exchanges today. |
| The company's board approved a stock split in the ratio of 1:5. This is subject to shareholders' approval. |
