Engineers India gets Nalco deal

| Engineers India (EIL) has bagged a contract for engineering, procurement, construction supervision and project management services for the second phase expansion of bauxite mines, alumina refinery and aluminium smelter from National Aluminium (Nalco). "The contract was bagged against stiff international competition," an EIL release said today. The expansion will result in enhancement of bauxite mine capacity from 4.8 million tonne per annum (MTPA) to 6.3 MTPA and alumina refinery capacity from 1.575 MTPA to 2.1 MTPA. Similarly, the aluminium smelter capacity would raise to 0.460 MTPA from 0.345 MTPA. "The second phase expansion project is expected to be completed in stages by mid-2009," the release added. |
