Idea Cellular Q2 net rises 81.6%

Buoyant on strong subscriber growth, Idea Cellular, Aditya Birla Group’s GSM telecom service provider, has seen a 81.6 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 273.15 crore for the second quarter ended September 30.

In comparison, it had posted a net profit of Rs 150.4 crore during the same period of the previous financial year. Total income rose to Rs 2,797.2 crore for the quarter, against Rs 2,300.6 crore in the same quarter a year ago, according to a statement issued to the BSE.

On a consolidated basis, the group of Idea Cellular and its subsidiary companies posted a net profit of Rs 220.15 crore during the quarter under review, a 52.8 per cent increase from Rs 144.1 crore in the comparable period a year earlier.
