Jagran net jumps 47%

CORPORATE SCORECARD

Bloomberg Mumbai
Jagran Prakashan, the Indian publisher in which Independent News & Media Plc has a 63 per cent stake, said fiscal third-quarter profit rose 47 per cent as advertising revenue increased.

Profit after tax at the Kanpur-based company rose to Rs 25.93 crore ($6.6 million) in the three months ended December 31 from Rs 17.7 crore a year earlier, according to a statement released on the Regulatory News Service today by Independent News. Revenue rose 29 per cent to Rs 200 crore, while ad revenue increased by the same percentage to Rs 100 crore.

"Increases in advertisement revenue were driven by increases in total space, including colour space, and also better rates,'' Jagran said.
