Jet to introduce Dhaka-Mumbai daily flights from Sept 15

Press Trust of India Dhaka

India's private carrier Jet Airways will launch new daily, direct flights between Mumbai and Dhaka from mid-September, company officials said.

"Jet has completed all preparations for launching Dhaka-Mumbai flights from the 15th of September," a senior Jet official said in here yesterday.

"Jet might have eyed mainly the prospects of Bangladeshi passengers to and from the Gulf destinations via Mumbai," one senior official at a Bangladeshi private sector airline told the New Age daily.

The daily quoted a Jet statement as saying, "With the launch of our Mumbai-Dhaka service, passengers from Bangladesh may connect on to Jet Airways' services to North America, Europe and the Gulf, as well as other ASEAN destinations, via Jet hubs in Mumbai and Delhi."

With more than two million Bangladeshi migrant workers reside in the Gulf countries, airline operators always find flights connecting Dhaka and Gulf destinations as much lucrative operations, the newspaper noted.
