Jusco eyes new utility business

Our Correspondent Jamshedpur
Jamshedpur Utility and Services Company Limited (Jusco), a 100 per cent subsidiary of Tata Steel, is all set to expand its wings.

The company has chalked out plans, which included providing services in other cities and to corporate houses all over the country.

Sources said a Jusco team recently visited Gujarat to explore opportunities in providing services to Tata Chemicals Ltd.

Jusco was at present managing Jamshedpur town for its parent company, Tata Steel.

Jusco chairman Arun Narayan Singh, however, said that it was too early to comment on the matter. "Things are still in the planning stage - we have decided to expand our reach," he said.

Jusco teams had visited Ahmedabad, Guwahati and Chennai already and would be visiting other locations to study opportunities to grow its business.

"Jusco is working on its aim to reach new places to provide services and thus increase revenue," Singh said. He claimed Jusco had emerged as a leading player in the field of providing civic amenities.

Sources said Jusco was looking at revenues of Rs 1000 crore. It was also keen to undertake power supply in the Adityapur Industrial Area Development Authority (AIADA) area near Jamshedpur.
