Maha Scooters plunges into the red
 
Maharashtra Scooters has incurred a net loss of Rs 57 lakh in the quarter ended December 31, 2004 compared with the corresponding previous period's net profit of Rs 60 lakh.
 
Gross sales, during the period, went up by 68 per cent to Rs 7.08 crore, over the last comparable quarter's Rs 4.21 crore. Net sales stood at Rs 6.03 crore, a 77 per cent higher than the previous corresponding period's Rs 3.40 crore.
 
NDTV net up 105%
 
New Delhi Television (NDTV) has posted a whopping 105.5 percent increase in net profit at Rs 14.8 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2004 compared with last year's corresponding quarter of Rs 7.29 crore.
 
The company's income from operations have also registered an impressive 118 per cent growth at Rs 53.20 crore for the present quarter against Rs 24.3 crore during the last year's quarter.
 
A media release issued by the company said that the growth has been on account of the success of both its channels- NDTV 24X7 and NDTV India-the Hindi news channel. The company recently launched its business channel- NDTV Profit.
 
Nova Petrochem slips into the red
 
The Ahmedabad-based Nova Petrochemicals has reported a net loss of Rs 4.15 crore by end of the third quarter of the current fiscal year, while its gross sales also has dipped significantly to Rs 74.43 crore against Rs 140.71 crore of gross sales reported in the corresponding period of the last fiscal year.
 
Nova, which has reported a higher staff cost of Rs 1.73 crore against Rs 1.53 crore of staff cost reported in the third quarter of the last fiscal year, had posted a net profit of Rs 6.99 crore in the third quarter of the last fiscal year.
 
However, the company managed to cut down its total expenditure to Rs 54.32 crore in this quarter against total expenditure of Rs 94.23 crore reported in the corresponding quarter of the fiscal year 2003-04.
 
Profit before interest, depreciation and tax (PBIDT) stood at Rs 6.64 crore in the quarter under consideration against Rs 20.69 crore in the third quarter of the last fiscal year.
