Nalco, Pratibha, Colgate Q3 results

Nalco bottomline up at Rs 573 cr
 
National Aluminium Company (Nalco), the country's leading manufacturer and exporter of aluminium, has posted a net profit at Rs 572.60 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2006, which shows 45.69 per cent increase compared with Rs 393.03 crore reported during the corresponding period last year.
 
According to the unaudited financial results discussed at the company's board meeting in New Delhi today, sales turnover during the quarter recorded an increase of 10.08 per cent at Rs 1,588.07 crore compared with Rs.1442.59 crore in the corresponding period last year.
 
This is the highest-ever quarterly growth in profit in the history of Nalco. The cumulative net profit of the company during the 9-months period is pegged at Rs 1789.90 crore compared with Rs 956.63 crore in the previous year. Similarly, the cumulative sales turnover increased to Rs 4791.54 crore from Rs 3664.27 crore during the same period in the previous year.
 
Pratibha net soars 102.5%
 
Pratibha Industries, an infrastructure development company, has posted 102.48 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 6.54 crore in the quarter ended December 31 compared with Rs 3.23 crore in the corresponding quarter in the last financial year.
 
Net sales almost doubled to Rs 82.49 crore against Rs 41.72 crore during the period. Operating profit during the quarter was at Rs 10.96 crore and the company's earning per share (EPS) stood at Rs 4.58 compared with Rs 2.26 during the previous corresponding quarter, up 102.65 per cent.
 
Colgate net up 20.63% at Rs 50.34 cr
 
Colgate-Palmolive has reported a net profit of Rs 50.34 crore for the quarter ended December 31, up 20.63 per cent compared with Rs 41.73 crore for the previous corresponding quarter. Net sales for the period were Rs 322.3 crore compared with Rs 285.71 crore for the previous corresponding quarter, up 12.8 per cent.
 
Operating profit margin for the quarter was down at 16.89 per cent from 22.9 per cent in the corresponding quarter in the previous financial year. This can be attributed to an increase in different heads of expenditure.
