Neyveli, Opto Circuits & Persistent Q4 results

Chennai-based public sector enterprise, Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) posted a nearly 14-fold jump in its fourth quarter net profit at Rs 384.68 crore compared with Rs 26.40 crore last year.
Surge in the profit is due to increase in lignite production during FY08, which was low in the previous quarter due to rains.
Opto Circuits Q4 net soars 43%
Opto Circuits (India), a manufacturer of medical diagnostics, reported 43.4 per cent rise in its consolidated net profit at Rs 34.76 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 2008. Net sales surged by 43 per cent to Rs 120.52 crore.

Persistent FY08 net up 50%
Persistent Systems posted a net profit of Rs 83.17 crore for the financial year ended March 2008, up 49.8 per cent from Rs 55.57 crore registered during the last financial year. Revenue for the year was Rs 424.85 crore (Rs 315.6 crore), up 34.6 per cent.
Anand Deshpande, chairman and managing director, said, "FY08 was a very significant year for Persistent as we crossed the $100 million mark.
Kalpataru Power FY08 net slips
Kalpataru Power Transmission, an engineering firm, announced a net profit after tax of Rs 160 crore for the year ended March, down 6.25 per cent.
The fall is due to increased competition in transmission projects, higher interest costs and volatile commodity prices, a company release said.
