NHPC officers protest for pay hike

Press Trust of India  |  Shillong

Employees of the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) have began a token protest demanding pay hike and have threatened to embark on warpath from next month.

The employees have started wearing black badges since yesterday in their respective project sites protesting non-implementation of the revised pay.

In a letter to their CMD, NHPC Officers Association General Secretary AP Singh said there is "serious frustration among the officers due to non-implementation of the revised pay since other PSUs like NTPC and PowerGrid has started implementing it".

"The proposal for revised pay scales is pending before the Ministry of Power for more than six months. The officers would be compelled to take the path of agitation if the issue of the pay scales is not settled within October 30," Singh said.
