Nirma Ltd To Acquire Brands For Rs 445 Crore

Nirma Ltd is acquiring the brands, Nirma, Nima, as well as the soap stone manufacturing unit for Rs 445 crore from Nirma Industries, a closely held company of the promoters.

The listed company will issue 6 per cent redeemable preference shares worth Rs 2.8 crore to Nirma Industries. The detergent manufacturer will also undertake the Rs 442 crore debt of the operating division.

Total sales of soaps and detergents stood at around Rs 1,600 crore in 2001-02, which means a consideration of close to 28 per cent of sales. Post demerger, Nirma Industries will retain its investments, financial assets and other assets.

 

The brands and trademarks were valued around Rs 1,400-1,600 crore by Deloitte Haskins and Sells.
