NTPC launches social welfare schemes in Korba

The Korba station of the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) launched a number of social and welfare programmes under the Resettlement and Rehabilitattion (R&R) scheme.
The Regional Executive Director of Western Region II, S N Ganguly launched the programmes during his visit to the power city of Korba.
The company spokesperson informed that a 45-day training programme on tailoring for 30 women each from Chhurikurd and Dhanras villages located in the vicinity of the power station was started in coordination with CG Entrepreneurship Development Board, Bilaspur.
On the successful completion of the training, the participants would be provided sewing machines by NTPC at free of cost to earn their livelihood, the spokesperson added.
A training programme on House-Wiring for the unemployed youth of the two villages was also launched. The 120-hour training programme will be imparted by the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at Korba under the aegis of Chief Minister Koshal Vikash Yojana.

The candidates will be provided transport facilities to attend the programme. While stationery kits have already been distributed, tool kits and certificates will be given upon completion of the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Ganguly appreciated the candidates’ abilities to come up in their lives. The General Manager of Korba station, S K Roy appealed people to take maximum benefit of various community-development programmes taken up by NTPC.
A 700-meter concrete road developed by the station at Chhurikurd village was also dedicated on the occasion.
