ProSim R&D, a Bangalore-based engineering solution provider and UK's Safe Technology have announced to increase their focus on the domestic market by providing solutions to the aviation and designôR&D laboratories in the country.

Presently, both the companies are servicing the automotive and manufacturing sectors through their FeSafe solution. Developed by Safe Technology, FeSafe is a tool that uses computer simulation to estimate the life of components and systems used in engineering industries.

According to S Shamasundar, MD, ProSim R&D, "After it partnered Safe Technology in 2005, the company has introduced FeSafe solution and has been servicing companies spread across automotive and manufacturing sectors. Now after stabilising our sales in these areas, we are looking at expansion to other sectors." Some of the Indian firms who are using the solution include Ashok Leyland, Bharat Forge, TVS group, Tata Motors and DRDO.

Shamasundar said the company was looking at providing the solutions to the design and R&D labs which were upgrading and modernising their tools. "Presently, we are in talks with National Aerospace Laboratories in Bangalore and Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory, Hyderabad," he added.

John Draper, CEO, Safe Technology who is also the creator of FeSafe software, said the technology eliminates the experimental and physical prototyping to a large extent apart from reducing the cost of trial during design and development.

It is estimated that 40 per cent of the development cost of any automotive parts goes towards prototypes, which varies between Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1 crore.
