Tops control & instrumentation biz

The electronics division of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has maintained its track record in control & instrumentation business in the country with a market share of 65 per cent, according to studies conducted by ARC Advisory Group, USA.
 
The company, in 2006-07 booked orders to the tune of Rs 1,200 crore for its C&I systems which is a record for a single year. These contracts are for control & instrumentation systems comprising of steam generator controls, turbine generator controls, station C&I among others. from leading customers like NTPC, Mahagenco, APgenco and KPCL. These include contracts for eleven 500 Mw sets, two 490 Mw sets and ten 250 Mw sets.
 
BHEL attributes its success in control & instrumentation business to its efforts towards technological upgradation, in-house research and development activities, creation of world class facilities, cost and cycle time reduction and reliable services-after-sales.
 
The company within a short span of acquiring the technology from a US company, indigenised a number of critical electronic modules and developed advanced features, both software and hardware-driven, to make the country's power plants more user-friendly, according to a release.
