Toyota launches training prog in Gujarat

| Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has introduced its Toyota Technical Education Programme (T-TEP) at Ahmedabad in collaboration with the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Kuberanagar. The company plans to partner 20 technical institutes across the country by 2010 and would be investing approximately Rs 6 crore for T-TEP implementation in the country. |
| The company has already established nine such partnerships with other industrial institutes across the country. Around 38 students at the ITI will undergo the programme in two batches this year. Nearly 2,000 students are expected to be covered under the programme. |
| "We believe the partnership with technical institutes will enhance the technical prowess of the students and on a macro level will benefit the Indian auto industry," said A Toyoshima, managing director, TKM. |

| Joseph's Industrial Training Institute (Don Bosco Industrial Institute) at Mumbai, Mohanmull Chordia Jain Industrial Training Centre at Chennai, Deshpande Institute of Vocational Training Udyog near Hubli, Government Industrial Training Institute in Bangalore and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Industrial training centre, Pune. |
| So far 66 technicians of the 74 who underwent the T-TEP training at these institutes have been employed by the Toyota dealership. |
| Apart from being technical institutes of academic repute and offering automotive courses with proper classrooms, practice areas, the institutes selected for participation by Toyota are selected if they have adequate number of qualified automotive instructors with government-approved credentials. |
| T-TEP curriculum has been synchronised with Industrial Training Institute¿s syllabus in the second year of the course. In addition to that, on the job training is expected be provided at the nearby Toyota dealership, every week, for a period of 6 months, so students can get a first hand feel of Toyota Production System. |
| Globally, Toyota has introduced this programme in 52 countries, which include the USA, Australia, Italy, South Africa, China and Vietnam and India. T-TEP has been implemented in 436 institutes across the 52 countries. |
