TVS Motor Company announced a net profit of Rs 24.90 crore in the first quarter of 2005-06, lower by 8.38 per cent in relation to the net profit of Rs 27.18 crore seen in the corresponding period of the earlier year.

The total income in the first quarter of 2005-06 grew by 20.79 per cent over the previous year to touch Rs 746.60 crore (Rs 618.07 crore). Net profit was adversely impacted by the magnitude of increase in raw material costs.

The raw material cost in the first quarter of 2005-06 stood at Rs 486.07 crore, higher by 30.61 per cent over the previous year's cost of Rs 372.15 crore.

Total number of two wheelers sold by the company in the first quarter of 2005-06 was 3.07 lakh units, higher by 20.86 per cent in relation to the previous year's 2.53 lakh units.
