VLCC plans more stores

BS Reporter Kolkata
Wellness major VLCC has set a target of touching a turnover of Rs 1000 crore by March 2010 on the back of more service centres and FMCG products.

The company posted a turnover of Rs 300 crore as on March 2007.

The company is also investing Rs 400 crore in its various businesses till 2010.

Speaking on the sidelines of Tieger 2008 organised by The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), Vandana Luthra, chairperson of VLCC, said, "We plan a total of 350 slimming centres in India from 120 right now. We also plan to launch more FMCG products in haircare, skincare and personalcare."

The company is contemplating an initial public offering (IPO) by August 2009 but is yet to decide the amount of money it plans to raise.

According to Luthra, quick-fix services are fast catching up since most consumers are pressed for time.

"We will therefore launch small make-up studios in kiosk format inside departmental stores. We are also looking at setting up around three beauty parlours that would take care of specific needs of consumers," Luthra said.

The beauty parlours would be spread over some 1,500 sq ft.

VLCC is also planning a third production unit and is looking for space.

Currently its FMCG products are manufactured at its plants in Dehradun and Hyderabad.
