Press Trust of India Bangalore

About 15% of an estimated 1.55 crore electorate cast their votes till 11 am in Karnataka's 11 Lok Sabha Constituencies, where voting is underway in the second and final phase of the state today.

The polling remained peaceful so far, police said.

Brisk polling has been reported from Shimoga, Dakshina Kannada and Mysore, electoral authorities said.

In Hassan, where former prime minister H D Devegowda is seeking re-election, the voters turnout was less as it recorded about 12% of polling.

Prominent candidates whose poll fate would be decided in this phase include former chief minister S Bangarappa, who is fighting Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa's son B Y Raghavendera in Shimoga, cine star Ambareesh of Congress in Mandya and state unit BJP president D V Sadananda Gowda, who is testing his luck from Udupi-Chikmagalur seat after witching from his Dakshina Kannada constituency.

Police have provided tight security cover in Bagalkot, Haveri, Dharwad, Davanagere, Shimoga, Udupi-Chikmagalur, Hassan, Dakshina Kannada, Mandya, Mysore and Chamarajanagar (SC) that are going to polls.

In the first phase of election held on April 23, 17 Lok Sabha seats went to polls.
