Ex-CM to undergo open heart surgery

Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy will undergo an open heart surgery on Thursday at the Wockhardt Hospital in the city.

Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology Director Dr C N Manjunath, a close relative of Kumaraswamy, said the former CM had developed cardiac problems in the last six months due to work pressure.

"He has been undergoing tests for the last two months. Now, it is confirmed that he needs to undergo an open heart surgery," he added.

A team led by Dr Vivek Jawali, chief cardiovascular thoracic surgeon at Wockhardt Heart Institute, will operate on Kumaraswamy.
