FICCI joins hand in fight against swine flu

Industry body, FICCI today extended its support to government in its fight against swine flu by circulating clinical guidelines for the treatment of patients in private hospitals to ensure high-level of preparedness.
The guidelines spell out the steps required for containing the spread of swine flu that is sampling and segregation, testing and treatment.
The document is also being circulated to Union and State Governments, FICCI officials said.
Private sector hospital members of FICCI have come forward and are willing to go the extra mile in supporting the government in its effort to tackle the disease by making their hospitals and laboratories available at reasonable costs, they said.
Further, most of these hospitals are modifying their physical infrastructure to provide for a room that could be used as a designated clinic to examine the swine flu suspects and making provisions for dedicated ICUs that can be used in pandemic situation.
Laboratories are upgrading their infrastructure with the requisite equipment and kits needed for swine flu testing, the officials said.
