Govt urged to release subsidy to SSIs

Our Correspondent Chennai/ Mangalore
The Parliament member from Mangalore D V Sadananda Gowda has urged the state government to release the subsidy due to small scale industries (SSIs) at the earliest.

Speaking after inaugurating 'Yantra 2006' - a national level mega industrial fair here on Tuesday, he demanded the government to take immediate steps to provide a market to the products manufactured by the small scale industries.

However, he regretted that the growth of small scale industries in the coastal region was not as expected due to lack of capital investment, poor quality, increasing competition and high production costs.

He also urged the new government to announce a new industrial policy to take care of small scale industries especially to find a market for the products of SSIs and release the subsidy.

Yogish Bhat, Mangalore MLA, who presided wanted industries which are environment friendly to be developed. The fair has been organised by the state industries and commerce department, D K District Industries Centre, and Kanara Small Industries Association.
