Govt urged to release subsidy to SSIs

| The Parliament member from Mangalore D V Sadananda Gowda has urged the state government to release the subsidy due to small scale industries (SSIs) at the earliest. |
| Speaking after inaugurating 'Yantra 2006' - a national level mega industrial fair here on Tuesday, he demanded the government to take immediate steps to provide a market to the products manufactured by the small scale industries. |
| However, he regretted that the growth of small scale industries in the coastal region was not as expected due to lack of capital investment, poor quality, increasing competition and high production costs. |
| He also urged the new government to announce a new industrial policy to take care of small scale industries especially to find a market for the products of SSIs and release the subsidy. |
| Yogish Bhat, Mangalore MLA, who presided wanted industries which are environment friendly to be developed. The fair has been organised by the state industries and commerce department, D K District Industries Centre, and Kanara Small Industries Association. |
