Haryana records second highest wheat arrival

Haryana has recorded second highest arrival of wheat this season. Over 6.5 million metric tonnes of wheat has already arrived in the various mandis of the state as against total arrival of 6.3 million metric tonnes during last year.

The highest wheat arrival of 6.9 million metric tonnes was recorded in the year 2009-10. While stating this, Food and Supplies Minister H S Chattha said the state had already surpassed its wheat arrival target of 6.5 million metric tonnes set for the current season.

Out of the total arrival of wheat, over 6.5 million metric tonnes of wheat has been purchased by government procuring agencies and the rest 4,084 metric tonnes by traders, he added.

 

Giving details of the wheat procured by the government agencies, he said that over 2.3 million metric tonnes of wheat had been purchased by Haryana State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Limited (Hafed), over 1.7 million metric tonnes by Food and Supplies Department, over 8.08 lakh metric tonnes by Food Corporation of India, over 6.58 lakh metric tonnes by Haryana Agro Industries Corporation, over 5.93 lakh metric tonnes by Haryana Warehousing Corporation and over 0.4 million metric tonnes by Cooperative Wholesale Stores Ltd (Confed).

District Sirsa was leading in wheat arrival where over 0.9 million metric tonnes of wheat had so far arrived in the mandis, followed by district Fatehabad where over 0.7 million metric tonnes of wheat had arrived in the mandis.
