India to host Contracters' convention in 2013

India would host the convention of the International Federation of Asian and Western Pacific Contractors' Associations (IFAWPCA) in 2013, according to a top official of the Builders Association of India.

Cherian Varkey, BAI National President, said it is important for the construction industry to project India's capabilities to the International Community by then.

About 150 delegates from India are likely to attend the IFAWPCA convention, scheduled to be held in Hong Kong in November this year, he said at a function at the BAI's local chapter here last night to install new office bearers.

He asked builders to gear up to tap the huge potential in the construction sector as infrastructure development would be the key for the growing Indian economy, with substantial allocations being made in Five Year plans.
