Irma case: Chaudhary withdraws petition

Our Regional Bureau Vadodara
S R Chaudhary, former member of board of governors of Institute of Rural Management, Anand (Irma), has withdrawn his plea from Anand civil court last week.

Chaudhary, who is also the managing director of Banas Dairy, had pleaded for a stay against the proposed April 1, board meeting of Irma.

In an interim decision, the local court had ordered a status quo on the earlier orders issued by the Joint Commissioner of Charity (Vadodara Division) till April 11.

Interestingly, Chuadhary has not sighted any clear reason for his unconditional withdrawal.

In the affidavit filed by advocate M N Suthar, Chaudhary has stated that he is withdrawing his petition because of 'personal and technical' reasons.

Chaudhary had resigned from Irma board of governors on April 1.

Following the ruling by the joint charity commissioner, Vadodara against Irma chairman Varghese Kurien, Chaudhary, thought to be Kurien's close confidant, had filed a petition in the civil court for a stay against the April 1 board meeting.
