Jairam vows toilet revolution in 10 years

Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh on Wednesday vowed to make all rural panchayats free of open defecation in the coming ten years . The minister to unveil a new sanitation programme next month which would make the targets of total sanitation a reality in ten years. He said under the the new revamped programme Rs 9,500 will be allocated per toilet. While half the money would come from the sanitation funds, about Rs 4,500 would come from National Rural employment Guarantee Scheme .
