Karnataka, CII to ink MoU

| Karnataka will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to launch the 'Suvarna Kayaka' scheme aimed at creating employment for 2.5 lakh jobless youth. The scheme will be launched on Thursday. |
| Karnataka industries minister Katta Subrahmanya Naidu told reporters here on Wednesday that over 3,000 industries from all sectors have agreed to implement the scheme. |
| "The IT/BT sector alone has agreed to absorb 50,000 graduates from various streams. Candidates, who have secured first class and second class marks, will be trained by the firms before subjecting them to a test," he added. |
| The government has already received applications from 15,000 unemployed graduates under the scheme. |
| "After assessing their academic background, they will be assigned to specific companies for training. The candidates will be absorbed by the companies if they successfully complete the training and pass the test," the minister said. |
| On Thursday, the government will felicitate 17 industrialists, who have secured honour to the state. |
| They include Infosys chief mentor N R Narayana Murthy, Wipro chairman Azeem Premji, UB Group Chairman Vijay Mallya, Capt G R Gopinath of Deccan Aviation, Biocon CEO Kiran Mazumdar Shaw and Gokaldas Exports Ltd Executive Director Rajendra Hinduja. |
