Karnataka clears mega projects worth Rs 27,662 crore

The Karnataka government on Friday cleared 25 mega proposals with a combined investment of Rs 27,662 crore in various sectors. All proposals were cleared by a high-level committee headed by chief minister H D Kumaraswamy.
 
According to a release, the investments in the various sectors are as follows: IT - Rs 21,844.26 crore; textiles - Rs 265 crore; R&D - Rs 2,773.21 crore; iron and steel - Rs 317 crore; sugar - Rs 178 crore; engineering - Rs 1,345 crore; cement - Rs 195 crore; energy - Rs 60 crore; agriculture - Rs 384 crore and tourism - Rs 300 crore.
 
Shapoorji Pallonji Co Ltd has proposed to set up an IT hardware park in Devanahalli (Rs 8,820.10 crore) on the city's outskirts and an IT/ITeS special economic zone (SEZ) in Srirangapatna taluk (Mysore district) with an investment of Rs 1,132 crore.
 
ITC Ltd has proposed to establish a five star hotel ? 'ITC Gardenia' on Residency Road, adjacent to Mallya Hospital, in the city, with an investment of Rs 300 crore.
 
Other IT TeS SEZ projects cleared at the meeting are: Adarsh Prime Projects at Sarjapur on the city's outskirts (Rs 5,867 crore); Sapphire Infrastructure Development also at Sarjapur (Rs 2,867 crore); Bagmane Developers at C V Raman Nagar in the city (Rs 889.66 crore) and at Doddanakundi and Mahadevapura (Rs 670.30 crore); Tanglin Developments Ltd at Pattangere in Kengeri (Rs 562 crore); Cessna Garden Developers at Kadubeesanahalli (Rs 506 crore); Dynasty Developers also at Kadubeesanahalli (Rs 450 crore) and Wipro Ltd at Mysore (Rs 80 crore).
 
Apart from IT projects, investments in various sectors were also cleared. They include SEZ for hi-tech engineering products promoted by Suzlon infrastructure at Padubidri taluk in Udupi district (1,000 crore); R&D centre by Gandhi city developers at Ramanagaram taluk (Rs 2,683.20 crore); three lakh MTPA sponge iron plant (Rs 246 crore) and 36 mw power plant (Rs 60 crore) at Raichur by Lakhani Belmaks Ispat Gadwal; 1,500 TPD cement plant (Rs 195 crore) by Ittina Properties at Chittapur in Gulbarga district; yarn processed fabrics unit (Rs 165 crore) by National Textiles Corporation at Hassan SEZ, the release said.
 
Gokaldas Exports Ltd has proposed to set up an apparel and textile SEZ (Rs 100 crore) at Kanakapura taluk.
 
Among other projects are: green leaf tobacco threshing unit (Rs 150 crore) by ITC Ltd (ILTD Division) in Mysore; two 5,000 TCD white crystal sugar units with 15 mw cogeneration (178.20 crore) by Sri Renuka Sugars at Raibagh in Belgaum district and at Havalga in Gulbarga district respectively; R&D park for pharmaceuticals and biotechnology (Rs 90.01 crore) by Jubilant Organosys Ltd in Mysore.
 
In addition to these a 1,400 TPD sponge iron, 1,500 TPD steels billets with 32 mw cogeneration unit (Rs 71 crore) by Goa Minerals at Dharwad; 650 TPD wheat mill, 1,800 TPD rice mill, 180 TPD solvent extraction plant, 16 mw biomass based power plant and railway siding facility (Rs 234 crore) by R J Agro Products India at Dharwad and a steel auto components plant (Rs 345 crore) by Steel and Logistics Centre at Bidadi Industrial Area have also been proposed, the release added.
