| The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), in association with India Post, on Friday launched 'Logistic Post', a parcel service within the state. |
| KSRTC managing director M R Sreenivasamurthy and Karnataka chief post master general Meera Datta signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Logistic Post. |
| While India Post will handle the collection and delivery of the parcel, KSRTC will undertake its transportation. Parcel weighing up to 50 kg can be booked under the Logistic Post. The charges levied will be as per the India Post tariff. |
| Karnataka's transport minister N Cheluvarayaswamy said that Logistic Post will be available in 13 districts of the state "" Chamarajanagar, Chikmagalur, Davanagere, Hassan, Kolar, Mangalore, Mandya, Kodagu, Mysore, Shimoga, Tumkur and Udupi. |
| "It will be extended to the remaining 14 districts in phases. If the new venture is found successful, KSRTC will launch an exclusive fleet of vehicles for transporting courier and parcel," he added. |
| The postal department has been expanding its bouquet of services in the recent days and is entering into new business areas. |
| It aims to become a financial supermarket apart from its traditional business of delivering letters and selling stamps. |
