MP announces Rs 3,538 cr supplementary budget

The state finance minister today presented the first supplementary budget of Rs 3538.68 crore in assembly. Of which, a major portion of Rs 400 crore will go to power distribution companies to arrange working capital as short term loan. It will be followed by another Rs 310 crore to meet the expenses of grade-pay of staffs of primary and middle schools. Rs 113 crore will cover loans which state cooperative banks owe to NABARD and Rs 53 crore which Madhya Pradesh Cooperative Dairy Federation owe to National Dairy Board. The house will debate on demands on July 18.
Of the total budget, power sector demands have touched Rs 682.50 crore, school education Rs 316 crore, Rs 113.42 crore for legal affairs, Rs 166.49 crore for food and civil supplies. Rs 100 crore for finance department to cover contingency fund and Rs 20 crore for computerisation of commercial tax department, Rs 130 crore for minor irrigation schemes, Rs 250 crore for drought relief and natural calamity, Rs 140 crore as financial assistance to three-tier Panchayat Raj and Rs 227 crore for woman and child welfare.
Rs 263 crore for tribal sub plan and Rs 9.58 crore for Budelkhand expenditures.
