Naphtha Prices Up By 2.1 Per Cent

The joint committee of the four public sector oil marketing companies has hiked naphtha prices by 2.1 per cent while reducing the prices of low sulphur heavy stock (LSHS) and heavy petroleum stock (HPS) by 2.66 per cent.

The committee, which met in Mumbai last week, also cut down the price of fuel oil by 2.96 per cent.

The new prices, which are for the non-fertiliser consumers of these products, came into effect from the midnight of August 31-September 1, 2001.

Naphtha prices from the port refineries and the northeast have been increased from Rs 11,890 a tonne to Rs 12,140 a tonne. LSHS and HPS prices have been revised from Rs 9,020 a tonne to Rs 8,780 a tonne and fuel oil prices have been brought down from Rs 8,480 a kilolitre to Rs 8,170 a kilolitre.
