Narco-analysis on Santokben

The Gujarat High Court today upheld a lower court order that allowed narco analysis and brain mapping test on alleged gangster Santokben Jadeja accused of having sheltered two suspects charged with rape and murder of Koli community girls in Junagadh.

The ruling was given by Justice M R Shah. A Junagadh court had permitted scientific tests on Santokben after her arrest.

A former legislator, Santokben, who is now on bail, and on whose life story the Hindi film 'Godmother' is based, had challenged the order in the High Court. She is now likely to move the Supreme Court, her lawyers said.

The rape of a Koli community girl and murder of her cousin while they were visiting the Datar shrine two months ago had set off on warpath virtually the entire community.

Purshottam Solanki, Gujarat minister of State for fisheries, who belongs to the powerful OBC community, had joined the agitation and had even tendered his resignation over the failure of the police to nab the culprits.
