Revoking nod to realty Cong decision: Badal

BS Reporter New Delhi/ Chandigarh
Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal clarified that the decision to withdraw the no-obection certificates issued by the Punjab Pollution Control Board to mega housing projects had been taken by the previous Congress government headed by Amaridner Singh through an official order on February 15, 2007.

"It is factually incorrect to say the present government had acted against the interests of big investors in the state or that the process of revoking the no-objection certificate and CLUs had been started by the present government," said Badal, adding that the entire chapter belonged to the previous governemnt and was the result of its failure to frame satisfactory guidelines on the subject.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister directed the state Chief Secretary to submit within 10 days the proposals of the Committee set up to frame suitable consolidate guidelines for setting up of residential projects in the vicinity of Industrial units.

The Chief Minister said that his government was committed to preserving the confidence of the investors in the state.

"We are alive to all the legitimate concerns of the investors, big as well as small, and will take all necessary steps to ensure a healthy investment climate in the state. We will not only consolidate investments already made but would actively pursue large scale fresh investment ," Badal said in a statement.
