Sets time frame for Pulichintala project

Our Correspondent Vijayawada
Chief minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, during his whirlwind 'rescue-farmer' tour of West Krishna district said that his government would complete the controversial Rs 550 crore Pulichintala project in two-and-a-half years.

He laid a foundation stone for the reconstruction of the Muniyeru anicut irrigation project at Pollampalli and while addressing a public meeting said that the project would be completed in 18 months.

He said that his government had proposed cloud-seeding in Telangana districts which recorded scanty rainfall. The chief minister also said that he would set right regional imbalances by reviving sick industries, setting up new industries and by creating new job opportunities.

However, he was evasive on whether the government would supply Nagarjuna Sagar water for the khariff crop in the Krishna delta.

He inaugurated the Rs 13.84 crore first phase of lift irrigation scheme at Vedadri, which irrigates 8,683 acres.

He interacted with farmers at Cherukupalem, Pedavaram, Kandrapadu, Konapalem, Bobbilapadu, Chandralapadu and other villages and received memoranda from them.
