Sreenidhi ties up with Vaughn College

Our Regional Bureau Chennai/ Hyderabad
City-based Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology (SNIST) has announced a collaboration with US-based Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology, to offer aviation and engineering technology programmes.

According to the partnership, SNIST will offer Bachelor of Science, Associate in Applied Science and certificate courses in aviation engineering based on the curriculum developed by Vaughn. The US-based college will award the academic degrees to students upon their completing courses at Sreenidhi.

Vaughn will offer 30 of the total course credits and Sreenidhi will offer 90. Students have the option to take the 30 course credits, either at Sreenidhi or at Vaughn College in the US. If a student opts for the US, the course fee will run into $21,000 for four years as compared to $8,000 at Sreenidhi. Vaughn normally charges $60,000 for the course.

Addressing the media, K T Mahi, secretary of SNIST, said, "We will initially offer courses that do not require new infrastructure. However, we intend to invest around Rs 40 crore in the next four years for developing facilities that will be required for courses with respect to aircraft operations and maintenance. We are looking at setting up a flying academy too. We plan to start the courses by August this year and are waiting for the necessary approvals."

According to John C Fitzpatrick, president, Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology, they could consider similar tie-ups with other colleges in India, in the future.
