Tax on Army canteens to be reviewed

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said he had promised the armed forces to look into their demand to exempt from value-added tax (VAT) goods sold at the CSD canteens. "I promised them (the armed forces) that I will look into it," Singh told a press conference here.

The Prime Minister said the armed forces had brought to his notice the hardship faced by them owing to implementation of value added tax in the CSD canteens.
