The Telangana government is gearing up to unveil its first information technology (IT) policy in the third week of this month, which will also lay emphasis on making Hyderabad as a more vibrant IT destination, said state IT minister KT Rama Rao.
"The proposed IT policy will continue the spirit of the recently-announced new industrial policy, especially giving priority to sanctioning permissions in a short time. The policy will also ensure avoiding delays in granting permissions at various stages," he said.
Rao said his government was aiming at achieving software exports of Rs 120,000 crore, and two million direct and indirect jobs in the IT industry. "We are focusing on initiating various programmes to train students in research and development, innovation and entrepreneurship, and make them industry-ready," he said in a press release on Sunday.

Stating that the IT policy would provide additional benefits to encourage them to expand to Tier-II cities and towns, Rao said the policy would initiate steps to minimise traffic for the benefit of the IT employees, besides providing other infrastructure.
According to him, the Telangana government would give utmost priority to companies that are willing to set up mega projects in the state, besides setting up a 'chasing cell' for the benefit of the IT companies.
Expressing hope that next-generation companies like Facebook, Google and WhatsApp would emerge from the state of Telangana, Rao said social media, analytics and cloud computing domains were being given priority in the policy.
"We are taking inputs from the IT industry as well to bring out an attractive policy as per its requirement. The policy will be released in the third week of December," Rao said.
