TN to have new IT policy

Our Bureau Chennai
To meet the growing demands of the IT sector and to give a fillip to its further growth, the Tamil Nadu government will soon come out with a new information technology policy, Chief Minister M Karunanidhi announced in the state assembly today.

Replying to a debate on the demands of grants for industries and IT departments, he said the second TIDEL Information Technology park would come up near the present one at Taramani in the city.

"A software park would come up at Coimbatore, which would be jointly promoted by the Software Technology Parks of India and the private sector. A world class information technology design and development institute would also be set up," he said, adding that the IT task force, disbanded by the previous AIADMK government, would be reactivated.
