What is AZB?

AZB Partners is among the top three corporate law firms in India, active in corporate law,  M&A transactions and fund-raising for corporations. Blackstone, Barings are among its top clients. AZB was one of the advisors for the failed deal between Bharti Telecom and South Africa’s MTN. Revenues would be approximately Rs 90 crore per annum.

The company employs 300 lawyers in India active in New Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. The firm is headed by Zia Mody, daughter of Soli Sorabjee, former Solicitor General of India.

Sunita Rajesh, daugther to the Supreme Court Justice R V Raveendran came into this firm after AZB acquired Bangalore-based Anup S Shah & Associates, a law firm strong in real estate, in July 2009. 

 

AZB Partners has been associated with Mukesh Ambani and is advising RIL on global acquisitions. AZB & Partners had advised Mukesh Ambani during his split from his younger brother and was instrumental in finalising the family MoU which is being disputed before the Supreme Court.
