Workshop on outsourcing held

The Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Fapcci), in association with other industry bodies, organised a workshop on 'staffing solutions, temping and outsourcing-a strategy' here.

The objective of the workshop, according to organisers, was to highlight the concepts and strategies in the case of outsourcing adopted by successful enterprises through innovative methods.

In his inaugural address, Sudhir Sanghi, vice-president of Fapcci, said, in many labour-intensive manufacturing and service organisations, the labour costs constituted 60 per cent of the cost of production and service.

In order to cut down the cost on labour and thereby reduce the cost of production, more and more companies were outsourcing the business processes, he added.

R Karikal Valaven, commissioner of labour, who inaugurated the workshop, said the welfare of labour should also be kept in mind by companies while outsourcing the work.
