Canara Bank to waive Rs 1,400 crore farm loan

In addition to this the bank will also cover another 109,000 farmers under the one time settlement scheme, who will get 25 per cent of their loan waived.
They have to pay the remaining 75 per cent of their loan outstanding in three instalments, M B N Rao, Chairman and Managing Director, Canara Bank said.
Rao, who retired from service, today presented the certificates to a few selected farmers at Harohalli branch in Ramanagara district, about 40 kms from Bangalore.
Finance Minister P Chidambaram had announced the Rs 71,000 crore agriculture loan waiver scheme in his budget speech early this year.
