Central Bank ready to implement farm debt waiver

Around 4.22 lakh farmers covering a sum of Rs 1,200 crore would benefit under the waiver scheme, a press release issued here stated.

In addition, about 86,000 farmers covering Rs 200 crore would benefit under the relief scheme, it said.

The scheme details have already been displayed in the relevant branches in local languages.

 

The bank has already appointed and notified grievance redressal officers as well as nodal officers as required under the scheme.

Multiple teams have been set up at regional offices for monitoring and checking the details of borrowers and the amount involved.

Separate teams have also been set up to process requirements of fresh loans to eligible farmers, the bank said, adding it was very confident of completing the various requirements like display of eligible borrowers list, etc. even before the set deadlines.

The project is driven directly by the Chairperson and Managing Director H A Daruwalla, who has already started visiting branches for spot verifications, the release said.

As Convenor of State Level Bankers Committee in Madhya Pradesh, Central Bank has already convened a steering committee meeting of all the various banks on June 4 for smooth implementation of the scheme.
