The Centre has reconstituted the Reserve bank of India's (RBI) four local boards - north, east, west and south. The 16 new members of the boards have been appointed for four years with effect from May 24.
The government has appointed Prem Nath Khanna, chartered accountant, Ram Nath, ex-professor and vice chancellor, CSA University of Agriculture and Technology, Mitha Lal Mehta, former chief secretary of the Rajasthan government and Pritam Singh, director, Indian Institute of Management to the northern area local board.
P D Chittalangiya, industrialist, Sarda Plywood Industries, A K Saikia, IAS (retd), Sovan Kanungo, IAS (retd) and Kiran Ghai, reader, department of Hindi, Patna Women's College have been appointed to the eastern area local board.

In the western area local board, K Venkatesan, former executive director, Asian Development Bank, Dattaraj V Salgaocar, managing director, V M Salgaocar & Brothers Ltd, Jayanti Lal Bavjibhai Patel, vice principal, S B Garda College and Mahendra Singh Sodha , Director, Institute of Technology and Management have been appointed.
The southern area local board has new members in Ashok Kumar Lahiri, National Institute of Public Finance and Policy, Nair Chellappan Parameswaran, retd chief secretary of Kerala government, S Ramachander, director, Institute for Financial Management and Research and M Govinda Rao, director, Institute for Social and Economic Change.
