Re moves up to 43.57/$, gilts steady

The spot rupee opened at 43.59 per dollar, but sustained inflows and lack of buying by PSU banks saw the rupee firm up to 43.57 per dollar as against the last close of 43.59 per dollar.

Prices of long-term government securities moved up by 10-15 paise while short and medium term papers  witnessed minor rallies of 3-5 paise today.

 The 10-year, 7.38% 2,015 bond closed at a lower yield of 6.55%.

Reverse repo bids totalled Rs 33,610 crore.
