Samir Bhatia is Barclays' India comm banking chief

Barclays International Retail and Commercial Banking today appointed Samir Bhatia to head its commercial banking business in India.

According to an official release issued today, Bhatia will head the IRCB business in India working closely with the Barclays Capital team to ensure one face to market. His role will cover retail banking, when launched; corporate banking,treasury, trade finance, cash management, credit risk and all central support functions.

Bhatia will report directly to Renier Lemmens, chief operating officer for Barclays International retail and Commercial Banking.Earlier, the bank had stated its intention to expand its offices and strengthen its team in India, the release said.
